Copycat

Sorry for not posting for so long. I've been back from Arkansas for a week now, and we just arrived at our Oma and Opa's house in Eugene. It's really nice just sitting here, talking, and catching u on stuff. Arkansas was pretty fun, especially at DeGray Lake Resort, but the unoriginality of Arkansas just staggers me. All they do is coin two names to make a new one, like Arkadelphia, or Texarkana. No offense to any Arkansians, it just annoys me to the point of no return. And their cuisine was nasty. They good food from Cajun or Creole styles, and just southwestern stuff, they fry it, and then the next morning you wake up with indigestion. Fried Okra?! Fried Green Tomatoes?! Seriously?! Waste of a good harvest.

A Totallini Disaster

Yesterday for dinner, we were having a Tortellini with a Vodka Tomato sauce, or at least that's what we were supposed to be having. We had grain alcohol cause my mom is a winemaker, and she was fortifying some port. Apparently, she needed it to be stronger, but she didn't want to change the flavor by putting moderate amounts of vodka in, so she used small amounts of grain alcohol. During the process of making this vodka dish, my dad accidentally mistook a bottle of a Russian grain alcohol called Volkov for vodka, and put the required amount into the sauce. As you can imagine, the dish had a fiery and bitter taste to it, and so, thinking it would be unsafe for me and my 10 year old brother, my dad reheated some Green Chile Mac & Cheese. What. A. Night.

Bible Study

Next Sunday, me and Drew will be going to Camp Chrysalis, a church camp where Drew will be learning about the Bible, and I might start confirmation. I will be behind everybody else in my class, because most of the other people in my age group have been at Peace Lutheran for years, whereas we just became members in June. I will be confirmed probably when I am 13, but maybe I will have to wait until I am 14. I don't know when. Funny thing though, one of the listed items for camp is a Bible. I have been to 3 week long summer camps just on my own, with my dad for part of the time, but I can honestly say that I have never had a bible on my listed items to bring. Oh well, I'm going to be going there for some years, so I should probably get used to it.

Names

Names are a fickle thing. Everybody goes around making movie names like Super 8, which we saw on Thursday, but the movie ends up having nothing to do with the motel chain, and it only barely alludes to the camera, but they name a whole movie after it?! Still, I guess it would have sounded better than something like The Case, which is what the movie is actually about. Sometimes they get it right, like in the case of the Portal series, which is about, well, inter-dimensional portals, I guess. Sometimes I just want to rage quit or storm out of a movie theater, because of something's stupid name. Arghh!
